2008 Street Stock Rules


Body:      American made street cars, 1955 and newer. Front strut cars are OK. No pull-bars. The strut tower can be trimmed but not cut out. Body and frame must be stock for the make or model of car. Must have stock firewall and floor pan.  The Hood, Doors, Fenders, Trunk lid and Rear quarter panel may be sheetmetal or aluminum but it must be of stock apperence for that make and model of car. All work must meet AMS Tech standards.  Front fenders may be fabricated, but must resemble the stock fender. Any damage may be repaired with sheet metal. Bracing of the uni-body is required for the full frame effect. All cars must be painted with contrasting numbers on sides and top. The top five cars must weigh after the semi-features and features, before leaving the track or will be Cars must weigh 3200 lbs. with driver.

Engine:     Al blocks must be stock production, cast iron blocks. All casting numbers must be readable. Flat top pistons only. Piston deck clearance is .000. Each piston, including wrist pins, locks, and rings must weigh at least 570 grams. Floating wrist pins are OK. Aftermarket I-Beam rods are legal, but they must weigh 540 grams each. Weigh does not include bearings. There will be zero tolerance on weights. No H-beam rods allowed. Aftermarket crankshafts are legal, must weigh 50 lbs, without the gear. No knife-edging. Stroke must be stock, plus or minus .010. No stroking or de-stroking. Oil return holes in lifter valley may be plugged. May use hydraulic or solid lift cam shaft only. No lift rule. No roller, mushroom, or gear drives cams allowed. Roller rockers are OK. Aftermarket wet sump oil pans with windage trays are OK. Cubic inch limit including wear is 362 for GM, 372 for Chrysler, and 362 for all others. Motor may be set back, but number one plug must be no further back than the center of the top ball joint. May run rear mounted engine mounts or Full midplates, Headers are OK. Stud girdle OK.

Heads:     Stock production cast iron heads only. Vortec heads are legal, but no machine work other than bolt holes. No porting, gasket matching, or angle milling of any kind. Maximum valve size for Chevy is 2.02, Ford and Chrysler is 1.94. May use aftermarket valve spring with maximum diameter of 1.30 inches. One spring only with damper. Screw in studs and poly-locks are OK. Valve bowls may be cut, but not blended. Three angle valve jobs are legal. No angle plug heads on GM. No W-2 heads on Chrysler. No off road racing heads. No bowtie equipment. Option of running Vortec replacement head # 12407.

Intake, Carburetor, and Distributor:     Intake may be stock or aftermarket, cast iron or aluminum. Must be dual plane. No air under or air gap intakes. May use aftermarket coil and module. Coil must be distributor mounted. May use Edelbrock, Carter AFB, or Quadrajet carburetor. May run Holley 4bbl part # 4779 with a max 1-1/4 inch adapter. May run 500 CFM 2bbl carburetor with choke horn and max of 1-1/2 spacer or adaptor.

Suspension and Wheelbase:      Racing springs and shocks are OK. No weights jacks or other weight transfer devices. Front and rear suspension must be in stock position for make and model of car. Shocks must mount in stock location. HEIM End Shocks on rear, may use shock extensions on top or bottom rear only, but must mount up in stock location. No air, coil over, or adjustable shocks. Leaf spring cars may use lowering blocks on rear. Coil spring cars may use spacers on rear coils. Adjustable spring spacer on front springs is OK. Brake valves are OK. May use aftermarket clutch, brake petal, and master cylinder assemblies with adjustment inside car.  Front strut cars are OK with stock wheelbase. All other types of cars must be stock wheelbase for make and model of car, plus or minus 1 inch. Strut towers may be trimmed and braced, but not removed. Bumpers on cars may be fabricated but must have front nose cover. All nerf rails must be flush with body of car. Quick steering is OK, but steering must remain in stock position. The back of the driver’s seat CANNOT be past the back of door window opening.

Transmission:     Stock automatic or standard transmissions only. Transmissions must have all working gears. Stock single disc clutches, but can be a rigid disc clutch. NO button clutches or mini-clutches. Clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel must weigh 30lbs as a unit. Flywheels can be stock or aftermarket, but NO aluminum. A flywheel type torque converter is required on automatics. Blow-proof bell housings are required with standards. Transmission coolers must be mounted outside of the driver's compartment.

Radiator, Tires, and Wheels:     Any radiator that mounts in stock location without modification is OK. No extra cooling devices allowed. Aluminum water pumps are allowed. NASCAR pull-offs only. No radial tires. Steel wheels only, with a max of 10 inches. Bead locks are OK.  No wide five patterns.

Fuel:     RACING FUEL, PUMP GAS, OR AVIATION FUEL ONLY. No Alcohol. No additives. Fuel subject to be analyzed.

General:     A fully charged and operational Fire Extinguisher is mandatory at all times. It is strongly recommended that a fire suit be worn by the driver.
